Deshalb wurden vor kurzem die zwei Satelliten <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/?p=231\">SMOS (Soil Moisture Ocean Salinity)<\/a> und <a href=\"http:\/\/aquarius.nasa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Aquarius<\/a> in Betrieb genommen.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/130430131343-large.jpg\" style=\"width: 320px\" width=\"320\" hspace=\"5\" title=\"ASIP\" alt=\"ASIP\" align=\"left\" \/>Um die Satellitendaten m\u00f6glichst genau auswerten zu k\u00f6nnen, sind <strong>Vor-Ort-Messungen<\/strong> von gro\u00dfer Bedeutung. Dazu wurde das internationale Forschungsprojekt namens <a href=\"http:\/\/spurs.jpl.nasa.gov\/SPURS\/index.jsp\" target=\"_blank\">SPURS<\/a> (Salinity Processes in the Upper Ocean Regional Study) ins Leben gerufen. Eine Messkampagne ist gerade abgeschlossen worden.<\/p>\n<p>Das spanische Forschungsschiff Sarmiento de Gamboa war im Zeitraum vom 16. M\u00e4rz bis 13. April 2013 zwischen den <strong>Kanarischen Inseln<\/strong> und den <strong>Azoren<\/strong> unterwegs. 19 Wissenschaftler, 6 Techniker und 18 Crewmitglieder waren an Bord, um in den oberen Schichten des Atlantiks den Salzgehalt und andere Parameter zu messen. Die Region zwischen den Kanaren und Azoren ist das sogenannte <strong>Nordatlantische Salzmaximum<\/strong>. Hier ist das Meereswasser an der Oberfl\u00e4che so salzig wie nirgendwo anders im offenen Ozean weltweit.<\/p>\n<p>Die Forscher wollten unter anderem untersuchen, wie <strong>Turbulenzen<\/strong> an der Meeresoberfl\u00e4che den \u00dcbergang von <strong>Wasserdampf<\/strong> in die Atmosph\u00e4re beeinflusst. Bemerkenswert dabei ist, dass kleinskalige Prozesse im Atlantik gro\u00dfskalige Prozesse in der Atmosph\u00e4re beeinflussen k\u00f6nnen. Wie genau das abl\u00e4uft, ist aber derzeit noch unklar.<\/p>\n<p>Mit Hilfe eines hinter das Schiff hergezogenen Messger\u00e4tes namens <strong>Air-Sea Interaction Profiler (ASIP)<\/strong> wurden Salzgehalt, Temperatur und Turbulenz in den oberen 10 Metern des Nordatlantik vermessen. Die Forscher fanden, dass der Salzgehalt stark variiert.
