Dies haben Mikrobiologen jetzt <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencedaily.com\/releases\/2008\/04\/080401200449.htm\" target=\"_blank\">herausgefunden<\/a>. Etwa die H\u00e4lfte des Sauerstoffs in der Atmosph\u00e4re wird von dem sogenannten <a href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Phytoplankton\" target=\"_blank\">Phytoplankton <\/a>produziert. Das sind winzig kleine Lebewesen, meist Algen, die mit Hilfe der Photosynthese Kohlendioxid in Sauerstoff umwandeln.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/119193.jpg\" title=\"Cyanobakterien, Blaualgen\" alt=\"Cyanobakterien, Blaualgen\" align=\"left\" hspace=\"5\" width=\"150\" \/>Alle diese Algen sind von verschiedenen Virusarten befallen. Die Molekularbiologen haben jetzt die genetischen Codes dieser Viren ausgewertet, und herausgefunden, dass eine dieser Algenart, die Blaualgen oder auch <a href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cyanobakterien\" target=\"_blank\">Cyanobakterien<\/a> genannt (siehe links im Bild), von Viren befallen werden, die in ihren Genen die Informationen zur Photosynthese enthalten.<\/p>\n<p>Oder anders ausgedr\u00fcckt: Ein Teil des Sauerstoffs, den wir atmen, ist ein <strong>Nebenprodukt einer Viruserkrankung<\/strong> der Cyanobakterien! Damit muss man wohl die Meinung revidieren, Viren seien in der Evolution nur sch\u00e4dlich.
