{"id":541,"date":"2012-02-20T00:08:32","date_gmt":"2012-02-19T23:08:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/?p=541"},"modified":"2012-02-20T00:10:43","modified_gmt":"2012-02-19T23:10:43","slug":"nasa-kartiert-baumhohen-weltweit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/nasa-kartiert-baumhohen-weltweit\/","title":{"rendered":"NASA kartiert Baumh\u00f6hen weltweit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Forscher des NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Kalifornien, der University of Maryland in College Park und des Woods Hole Research Center in Falmouth, Massachusetts haben aus Daten des NASA-Satelliten <a href=\"http:\/\/icesat.gsfc.nasa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">ICESat<\/a> (&#8220;Ice, Cloud and Land Elevation Satellite&#8221;) eine hochaufl\u00f6sende Karte der weltweiten Baumh\u00f6hen erstellt.<\/p>\n<p>F\u00fcr diese Karte wurden 2,5 Millionen Laserpuls-Messungen des &#8220;<strong>Geoscience Laser Altimeter Systems<\/strong>&#8221;  von ICESat ausgewertet und mit Hilfe von etwa 70 weltweiten Bodenmessungen auf Plausibilit\u00e4t \u00fcberpr\u00fcft. Die folgende Abbildung zeigt das Ergebnis (Quelle: <a href=\"http:\/\/lidarradar.jpl.nasa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">NASA<\/a>). Dargestellt ist hier jeweils die gr\u00f6\u00dfte Baumh\u00f6he in einem 1-km-Raster:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lidarradar.jpl.nasa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/canopy-height-large.jpg\" width=\"470\" alt=\"ICESat Baumh\u00f6he\" border=0 \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Da ICESat selbst keine vollst\u00e4ndige Abdeckung in 1 km Aufl\u00f6sung erm\u00f6glicht, wurden f\u00fcr die Erstellung dieser Karte auch Daten der zwei NASA-Satelliten <a href=\"http:\/\/terra.nasa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">TERRA<\/a> und <a href=\"http:\/\/trmm.gsfc.nasa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">TRMM (Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission)<\/a> sowie H\u00f6hendaten der &#8220;Shuttle Radar Topography Mission&#8221; der NASA genutzt. Au\u00dferdem kamen Daten der frei verf\u00fcgbaren, hochaufl\u00f6senden Klima-Datenbank &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldclim.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">WorldClim<\/a>&#8221; zum Einsatz.<\/p>\n<p>Die weltweite Baumh\u00f6he ist insbesondere f\u00fcr die <strong>Klimamodellierung<\/strong> eine wichtige Gr\u00f6\u00dfe. Sie l\u00e4sst auf den Biomasse- und somit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/?p=438\">Kohlenstoffgehalt der W\u00e4lder<\/a> schlie\u00dfen. Die Karte zeigt, dass die h\u00f6chsten B\u00e4ume in den Tropischen Regenw\u00e4ldern wachsen. Je weiter man sich von den Tropen entfernt, desto kleiner werden die B\u00e4ume. Dies gilt allerdings nicht f\u00fcr <strong>Australien<\/strong>. Hier wachsen die h\u00f6chsten B\u00e4ume (Eukalyptus mit \u00fcber 40 Meter H\u00f6he) etwa in 40\u00b0 s\u00fcdlicher Breite.
