{"id":456,"date":"2011-08-09T22:51:24","date_gmt":"2011-08-09T21:51:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/?p=456"},"modified":"2011-08-09T22:57:31","modified_gmt":"2011-08-09T21:57:31","slug":"antarktis-tsunami-lasst-eisberge-abbrechen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/antarktis-tsunami-lasst-eisberge-abbrechen\/","title":{"rendered":"Antarktis: Tsunami l\u00e4sst Eisberge abbrechen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wissenschaflter der Northwestern University und der University of Chicago haben mit Hilfe von Satellitendaten erstmals nachgewiesen, dass ein <strong>Tsunami<\/strong> Eisberge in der <strong>Antarktis<\/strong> abbrechen lassen kann. Am 11. M\u00e4rz 2011 ereignete sich vor der K\u00fcste Japans ein starkes Erdbeben, das zu einem Tsunami f\u00fchrte. Dieser Tsunami bewegte sich durch den gesamten Pazifik bis er nach 18 Stunden und 13.600 Kilometern an der K\u00fcste der Antarktis auf das Sulzberger Schelfeis traf.<\/p>\n<p>Obwohl der Tsunami beim Auftreffen auf das Eis nur noch etwa <strong>30 Zentimeter hoch<\/strong> war, reichte die Kraft der Wellen aus, um Eisberge von dem etwa <strong>80 Meter dicken<\/strong> Schelfeis abbrechen zu lassen. Die Auswertung der Satellitendaten ergab, dass die entstandenen Eisberge insgesamt etwa 125 Quadratkilometer gro\u00df waren, eine Fl\u00e4che etwas gr\u00f6\u00dfer als die Insel Sylt. Die folgende Animation im Zeitraum 11. bis 16. M\u00e4rz 2011 zeigt die abgebrochenen Eisberge (zwei gr\u00f6\u00dfere und mehrere kleine):<\/p>\n<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn-akm.vmixcore.com\/vmixcore\/js?auto_play=0&#038;cc_default_off=1&#038;player_name=uvp&#038;width=470&#038;height=380&#038;player_id=1aa0b90d7d31305a75d7fa03bc403f5a&#038;t=V0Z3SrQ8lzmQNAii-08Eo2yETGZ2zYE_9i\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Diese Bilder wurden mit dem <a href=\"http:\/\/envisat.esa.int\/instruments\/asar\/\" target=\"_blank\">Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (ASAR)<\/a> auf dem ESA-Satelliten Envisat aufgenommen. Das ASAR-Instrument ist ein Radar, dass durch Wolken hindurch schauen kann. Eisfl\u00e4chen erscheinen hellgrau, Meereis dunkelgrau und Wasser schwarz.
