Aber auch heute haben die beiden Kontinente noch eine Verbindung: <strong>Sahara-Staub<\/strong>. Das folgende Bild zeigt eine Kombination aus drei <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hd-gbpics.de\" target=\"_blank\">Bilder<\/a>n des polumlaufenden NASA-Satelliten Terra, die am 1. Juni 2010 aufgenommen wurden (eine gro\u00dfe Version sowie eine Google-Earth-Version gibt&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/earthobservatory.nasa.gov\/NaturalHazards\/view.php?id=44169&amp;src=nhrss\" target=\"_blank\">auf dieser NASA-Website<\/a>):<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/earthobservatory.nasa.gov\/NaturalHazards\/view.php?id=44169&amp;src=nhrss\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/saharastaub.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Saharastaub \u00fcberquert den Atlantik\" title=\"Saharastaub \u00fcberquert den Atlantik\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Der Terra-Satellit umrundet die Erde von Pol zu Pol innerhalb von 90 Minuten. Dabei dreht sich die Erde unter dem Satelliten weiter. Die grauen Bereiche im Bild sind die L\u00fccken zwischen zwei Uml\u00e4ufen. Man erkennt deutlich den hellgrauen Schleier von <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/?p=107\">Sahara-Staub<\/a>, der \u00fcber die <strong>Kap Verdischen Inseln<\/strong> bis vor die K\u00fcste <strong>Franz\u00f6sisch Guayanas<\/strong> weht und dann in einem Bogen nach Norden bis zu den <strong>Kleinen Antillen<\/strong> gef\u00fchrt wird. Dies ist eine Strecke von rund 6.000 Kilometern!<\/p>\n<p>Es geht aber noch besser: Bei \u00e4hnlichen Staubst\u00fcrmen werden jedes Jahr etwa <strong>40 Millionen Tonnen Staub<\/strong> aus der Sahara mehr als 8.000 km weit nach Brasilien in das Amazonas-Becken transportiert. Dieser <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/?p=138\">Staub<\/a> hat eine gro\u00dfe Bedeutung f\u00fcr den dortigen <strong>Regenwald<\/strong>, denn die enthaltenen Mineralien wirken wie D\u00fcnger f\u00fcr den Boden. Solche Staubst\u00fcrme sind aber nicht nur vorteilhaft f\u00fcr den Regenwald, wie Forschungen gezeigt haben, k\u00f6nnen sie auch die <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/\/?p=51\">Entstehung von Hurrikanen<\/a> behindern.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00dcber 2.800 km trennen Afrika und S\u00fcdamerika, die vor 150 Millionen Jahren noch verbunden waren.
