November 2018 seine ersten hochaufl\u00f6senden Bilder von Alaska, Hawaii und dem Pazifischen Ozean geliefert, nachdem der Satellit auf seiner neue Orbitalposition auf 137,2 Grad westlicher L\u00e4nge angekommen war. Am 10. Dezember 2018 wird er dort als &#8220;<strong>GOES-West<\/strong>&#8221; einen operationellen Betrieb aufnehmen.<\/p>\n<p>Damit gibt es nun erstmals eine <strong>hochaufl\u00f6sende<\/strong> <strong>geostation\u00e4re<\/strong> Satellitenabdeckung f\u00fcr die <strong>Pazifikregion<\/strong> einschlie\u00dflich Alaska und Hawaii.\u00a0Das folgende Video zeigt Aufnahmen des sogenannten &#8220;Advanced Baseline Imager&#8221;-Instrumentes an Bord von GOES-17 vom 13. November 2018. Man erkennt eindrucksvoll die verschiedenen Wolkenschichten, die \u00fcber die Hawaii-Inseln ziehen (Vollbild aktivieren, f\u00fcr einen besseren Eindruck):<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/6MtKgKkbl_0\" width=\"530\" height=\"400\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>GOES-17 wurde am 1. M\u00e4rz 2018 vom Kennedy Space Center der NASA gestartet und ist der zweite in einer Reihe von geostation\u00e4ren Wettersatelliten der n\u00e4chsten Generation. Wie GOES-16, sein Schwestersatellit, der als &#8220;<strong>GOES-East<\/strong>&#8221; fungiert und die kontinentalen USA im Blick hat, bietet GOES-17 hochaufl\u00f6sende Bilddaten und atmosph\u00e4rische Messungen der Erde aus einer Entfernung von 35.900 Kilometer \u00fcber dem \u00c4quator.<\/p>\n<p>GOES-17 soll die <strong>Wettervorhersage<\/strong> f\u00fcr die <strong>westlichen USA<\/strong> sowie in Alaska und Hawaii verbessern. Insbesondere in der Region um <strong>Alaska<\/strong> ist es nun m\u00f6glich, Meereis, Vulkanasche, Schneebedeckung und Waldbr\u00e4nde besser zu beobachten.
