Dabei handelt es sich um sogenannte &#8220;<strong>Red Sprites<\/strong>&#8220;. Diese Blitze leuchten sehr schwach und sind deshalb nur nachts sichtbar. Ihr Aussehen reicht von kleinen einzelnen oder mehreren vertikalen Verzweigungen bis hin zu hellen Gruppierungen, die sich \u00fcber den Wolken bis zu H\u00f6hen von bis zu 100 Kilometern erstrecken.<\/p>\n<p>Red Sprites dauern meist nicht mehr als ein paar Millisekunden an. Deswegen ben\u00f6tigt man hochempfindliche Kameras, um sie aufzunehmen. Die hellste Region liegt im H\u00f6henbereich von 65 bis 75 Kilometern. Dar\u00fcber befindet sich oft ein schwaches rotes Gl\u00fchen, das sich bis in etwa 90 km H\u00f6he erstreckt. Unterhalb der roten Region, erstrecken sich oft blaue fadenf\u00f6rmige Strukturen in H\u00f6hen von etwa 30 km, die sogenannten &#8220;<strong>Blue Jets<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Die Entstehung von Red Sprites ist noch nicht ganz gekl\u00e4rt.
