Juni 2009 (Ortszeit) ist ein neuer amerikanischer Wettersatellit von der Cape Canaveral Air Force Station aus ins All gebracht worden. <strong>GOES-O<\/strong>, so der Name des Satelliten, wird nach seinem erfolgreichen Start in <strong>GOES-14<\/strong> umbenannt und ist ein Satellit der vierten Generation der amerikanischen <a href=\"http:\/\/goespoes.gsfc.nasa.gov\/goes\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">GOES<\/a>-Wettersatelliten. GOES steht f\u00fcr &#8222;Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite&#8220;. GOES-14 soll zun\u00e4chst nur als Reserve-Satellit geparkt werden.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/200px-delta_iv_medium_42_liftes_off_with_goes-n.jpg\" title=\"GOES-N startet ins All\" alt=\"GOES-N startet ins All\" align=\"left\" hspace=\"5\" \/>Der Wettersatellit hat eine <a href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Geostation%C3%A4r\" target=\"_blank\">geostation\u00e4re Umlaufbahn<\/a> um die Erde, d.h., er steht immer genau \u00fcber einem Ort auf dem \u00c4quator. Dabei macht er Bilder der Erdkugel in <strong>5 verschiedenen Spektralkan\u00e4len<\/strong>. Aus diesen Daten lassen sich nicht nur Informationen zur Wolkenbedeckung, sondern auch Wolkenoberfl\u00e4chentemperatur- und -h\u00f6hen, Erdoberfl\u00e4chentemperaturen und Wasserdampfgehalt der Atmosph\u00e4re ableiten.<\/p>\n<p>Neu bei diesem Satelliten ist ein <strong>Infrarot-Kanal<\/strong> mit 4 km Aufl\u00f6sung (bisher 8 km). Damit k\u00f6nnen besser kleinere Gewitterzellen erkannt werden. Der Satellit liefert auch Daten zur Ableitung von H\u00f6henprofilen der Temperatur und der Feuchte, auch die Verteilung des Ozons l\u00e4sst sich berechnen.<\/p>\n<p>GOES-O \u00fcberwacht \u00fcbrigens auch das Wetter im Weltall. Er misst die Energie von Protonen und Elektronen sowie die <a href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alphastrahlung\" target=\"_blank\">Alphastrahlung<\/a> in 35.800 km H\u00f6he. Au\u00dferdem wird das <strong>Magnetfeld der Erde<\/strong> \u00fcberwacht und bei Bedarf werden Warnungen von starkem <a href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sonnenwind\" target=\"_blank\">Sonnenwind <\/a>herausgegegen, denn dieser kann den Kurzwellenfunk und die Satellitenkommunikation st\u00f6ren. GOES-O erstellt au\u00dferdem Bilder der Sonne im R\u00f6ntgen-Spektrum. Damit k\u00f6nnen auch <a href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sonneneruption\" target=\"_blank\">Sonneneruptionen <\/a>beobachtet werden.<\/p>\n<p>Desweiteren ist GOES Teil von <a href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/COSPAS-SARSAT\" target=\"_blank\">COSPAS-SARSAT<\/a>, einem <strong>Notrettungssystem<\/strong>. Der Satellit kann Notsignale von Flugzeugen und Schiffen empfangen, die dann an eine Zentrale weitergeleitet werden.
