Juli 2016 st\u00fcrzte\u00a0ein massiver\u00a0Strom aus Eis und Gestein ein enges Tal im Aru-Gebirge\u00a0von Tibet herab. Nachdem\u00a0die\u00a0Lawine\u00a0zum Stillstand gekommen war, hatten\u00a0sich Eis und Gestein\u00a0auf \u00fcber <strong>10 Quadratkilometern<\/strong> bis zu\u00a0<strong>30 Meter hoch<\/strong> aufget\u00fcrmt. Neun Menschen, 350 Schafe und 110 Yaks in dem abgelegenen Dorf Dungru wurden get\u00f6tet.<\/p>\n<p>Das\u00a0Tr\u00fcmmerfeld hat eine enorme\u00a0Ausdehnung, so dass die Forscher davon ausgehen, dass es sich hier um\u00a0die <strong>gr\u00f6\u00dfte\u00a0je registrierte Eislawine<\/strong> handeln k\u00f6nnte. Das einzige Ereignis von vergleichbarer Gr\u00f6\u00dfe wurde im Jahr 2002 am\u00a0Kolka-Gletscher im Kaukasus beobachtet.<\/p>\n<p>Verschiedene Satelliten zeigen das Ausma\u00df der Katastrophe:\u00a0die multispektrale Kamera des\u00a0ESA-<a href=\"http:\/\/www.esa.int\/Our_Activities\/Observing_the_Earth\/Copernicus\/Sentinel-2\" target=\"_blank\">Sentinel-2-Satelliten<\/a> hat\u00a0das Tr\u00fcmmerfeld am\u00a021. Juli 2016 aufgenommen. Einen Monat, am 24. Juni 2016,\u00a0hat\u00a0der &#8222;Land Imager&#8220;, ein \u00e4hnliches Instrument auf dem <a href=\"http:\/\/landsat.gsfc.nasa.gov\/?page_id=4071\" target=\"_blank\">Landsat-8-Satelliten<\/a> ein Bild gemacht,\u00a0das die Region vor der Lawine zeigt. Die folgende Animation zeigt den direkten Vergleich beider Bilder (Quelle: <a href=\"http:\/\/earthobservatory.nasa.gov\/IOTD\/view.php?id=88677\" target=\"_blank\">NASA Earth Observatory<\/a>):<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1652\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/icefall_tibet.gif\" alt=\"Monster-Lawine in Tibet\" width=\"510\" height=\"340\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Die Ursache f\u00fcr die Lawine ist unklar. Wissenschaftler r\u00e4tseln,\u00a0warum eine ganze <strong>Gletscherzunge<\/strong> derart schnell\u00a0abrei\u00dfen kann.\u00a0Die\u00a0bisherige\u00a0Auswertung von Satellitenbildern zeigt, dass der Gletscher bereits <strong>Wochen vorher<\/strong> Ver\u00e4nderungen gezeigt hat. Normalerweise deutet dies auf einen\u00a0beschleunigten Gletschervorsto\u00df hin, nicht allerdings darauf, dass der Gletscher in Form einer <strong>Lawine<\/strong> kollabiert.<\/p>\n<p>Amerikanische\u00a0Forscher vermuten, dass m\u00f6glicherweise <strong>Wasser unterhalb des Gletschers<\/strong>\u00a0dazu gef\u00fchrt hart, dass das sich das Eis wie bei einem Schlittschuh\u00a0rasant in Bewegung setzen konnte. Auch chinesische Forscher, die sich bereits ein Bild vor Ort von dem Tr\u00fcmmerfeld gemacht haben, bezeichnen die Lawine als &#8222;r\u00e4tselhaft&#8220;, da die\u00a0Region, wo\u00a0die Lawine ihren Anfang nahm, relativ flach ist. Allerdings konnten die Forscher den oberen Teil des Gletschers noch nicht genauer begutachten.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Am 17.
