Bereits seit l\u00e4ngerem ist\u00a0bekannt, dass es bedeutende <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/?p=1039\">vulkanische Aktivit\u00e4t in der Antarktis<\/a>\u00a0gibt.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/150710160922_1_900x600.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1312\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/150710160922_1_900x600.jpg\" alt=\"Geothermale Sonde\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/150710160922_1_900x600.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/150710160922_1_900x600-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> Die Messung des W\u00e4rmeflusses ist ein wichtiger Schritt zur Beurteilung\u00a0der Stabilit\u00e4t des westantarktischen Eisschildes und\u00a0f\u00fcr die Bildung\u00a0von\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wetter-center.de\/blog\/?p=202\">Seen\u00a0unter dem Eis<\/a>. Diese verursachen den sogenannten &#8220;Schlittschuheffekt&#8221;, so dass\u00a0sich\u00a0der Eisschild in Bewegung setzen kann. Das\u00a0Eis gelangt auf diese Weise als Treibeis in den S\u00fcdlichen Ozean.<\/p>\n<p>Die Messungen erfolgten mit einer speziell konstruierten Sonde (oben im Bild), die bis in die Sedimentschichten des subglazialen Sees &#8220;Whillans&#8221;\u00a0vorgedrungen ist. Dieser See befindet sich\u00a0unter einer rund 800 Meter dicken Eisschicht. Das Bohrloch wurde mit einem speziellen\u00a0Hei\u00dfwasserbohrer ins Eis getrieben.<\/p>\n<p>In verschiedenen Sedimentschichten wurde die Temperatur gemessen. Die \u00c4nderung der Temperatur mit der Tiefe ist dabei etwa 5 mal h\u00f6her als es normalerweise der Fall ist.
