Je mehr der gepresste\u00a0Schnee\u00a0unter Druck ger\u00e4t, wie es zum Beispiel unter Wasser der Fall ist, desto st\u00e4rker werden auch die Luftblasen herausgepresst und schlie\u00dflich weggesp\u00fclt, so dass am Ende reines <strong>Eis<\/strong> \u00fcbrig bleibt.<\/p>\n<p>Wenn Licht auf dieses Eis trifft, kann es tief eindringen und wird nicht an der Oberfl\u00e4che reflektiert. Das\u00a0Licht bewegt sich durch das Eis, <strong>l\u00e4ngere<\/strong> Wellenl\u00e4ngen (rot und gelb) werden dabei st\u00e4rker\u00a0<strong>absorbiert<\/strong> als k\u00fcrzere\u00a0Wellenl\u00e4ngen\u00a0(gr\u00fcn und blau). Dieses \u00fcbrig gebliebene blaue und gr\u00fcne Licht gibt\u00a0den Unterseiten der Eisberge ihre bemerkenswerte Farbe.<\/p>\n<p>Weitere beeindruckende Bilder von farbenfrohen Eisbergen gibt es zum Beispiel <a href=\"http:\/\/photolibrary.usap.gov\/Portscripts\/PortWeb.dll?query&amp;field1=Filename&amp;op1=matches&amp;value=Old_Berg_2.15.2011_.jpg&amp;catalog=Antarctica&amp;template=USAPgovMidThumbs\" target=\"_blank\">auf der Website\u00a0des\u00a0US Antarctic Program<\/a>.
